Eclat Roofing Blog Developed to Assist Clients

Eclat Roofing of Dallas, Texas begins publishing it's blog today as a service to it's roofing customers to provide them with the latest information affecting them and their roofs. Located in North Texas, our structures are exposed to climatic conditions that can be catastrophic. In the month of April, 2008 alone, storms utterly destroyed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of roofs on residential and commercial structures.

The aim of this blog site is to inform literally thousands of homeowners in the DFW area what to expect from their insurance companies as this year's damages are assessed. Higher deductibles have crept into local policies causing economic hardships among thousands of these affected homeowners. We will examine what you can do after a catastrophe and what you should do to protect yourself in the future. Our experienced team of roofing professionals have assisted thousands in working through the whole re-roofing and repair process with minimal pain.

Please come back, read and contribute to this site.

Nick,

There are some serious problems for homeowmers who have 1% deductibles.
Many can't afford to pay the deductibles and therefore won't repair their roofs. In other cases, they choose unqualified contractors or "jack-legs" to do their roofs in trade for paying the deductibles.

Homeowners insurance provides you financial protection in the event that your home is destroyed or damaged due to unforeseen or catastrophic event. In addition to your home, homeowners insurance also covers your belongings (or personal property) and can reimburse you for medical expenses and liability claims resulting from property damage and personal injury to other people caused by you and members of your family.

There are two types of homeowners coverage:

ALL RISK POLICY - offers broad protection and covers all perils unless they are specifically excluded by the policy.

NAMED PERILS POLICY - offers narrower protection than an all risk policy and covers only those perils specifically named under the policy. A named perils policy will also contain exclusion to perils named under the policy.

Policies also offer different methods of repairing or replacing your property:

REPLACEMENT COST - pays for all necessary expenses associated with rebuilding or repairing damaged property, up to the policy limits, less any applicable deductible amount.

ACTUAL CASH VALUE - factors in depreciation costs to your claim and pays you the costs to replace or repair the damaged property, less this depreciation and less any applicable deductible amount.

The above information was taken from the website www.opic.tx.us which is Office for Insurance Counsel of Texas.
